信じようと、信じまいと―
インドのアイシュ・タラード・シンという女性は、夢の中で不思議な男に出会い、求婚されたという。
アイシュが言下に断ると、男は「君にふさわしい男になって、もう一度会いにくるよ」と言った。
以来、まったく眠ることが無くなったというアイシュだが、およそ50年後、76歳の時に突然眠りに落ち、そのまま息を引き取った。
アイシュは、とうとうあの男のプロポーズを受けたのだろう、と彼女の周囲ではもっぱらの噂である。
